Head of Engineering, Commutable from Coventry, Warwickshire, West Midlands areas

* Pivotal engineering leadership role in a fast-growing UK Defence Vehicle / Robotics and Autonomous Systems engineering business backed by a larger global engineering group developing novel off-road uncrewed systems technology.

This Head of Engineering / Engineering Director / Chief Engineer role would really suit a candidate that will enjoy leading proof of concept / prototype development / low volume build of innovative technology within an agile engineering business yet has experience of working with larger multinational group companies.

Your background as a Head of Engineering / Engineering Director / Chief Engineer:

* We are looking for a technical / engineering leader with a track record of inspiring and leading multidisciplined engineering design and development teams to successful engineering delivery.

* Previous experience of off-road / off-highway vehicles, defence vehicles, or specialist vehicles is preferred.

* You will be able to combine being accountable for strategic engineering leadership, engineering delivery performance, and long-term technical capability development.

* Your personal attributes will include – systems engineering thinking, accountability, integrity, and an ability to build trust with several stakeholders.

* You are likely to be degree qualified in an engineering discipline.

Role Responsibilities:

* Strategic leadership and delivery of all engineering activities within a concept design, prototype development, low volume defence vehicle engineering environment.

* Deliver R&D and product engineering excellence.

* Leadership of a multidisciplined engineering team – Mechanical Design Engineers, Electrical Design Engineers, Software / Systems Engineers, and Build Technicians.

* Drive strong collaboration between local and wider group engineering teams.

* Support customer facing activities when a high level of technical / engineering input is required.

* Some infrequent international travel is expected.
