Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to be working on behalf of Walker Filtration to recruit a Process Engineer on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly respected and innovative manufacturing business where you will play a key role in driving process optimisation, automation and continuous improvement across production operations. Reporting directly to the Process Engineering Manager, you will work closely with Production Section Leaders and the QA Engineering team to support process performance, product quality and future manufacturing capability.

As Process Engineer, you will be responsible for identifying and implementing process improvements that enhance efficiency, reliability and output across all production areas, including goods in and despatch. Leveraging your expertise in automation, robotics, programming and control systems, you will support the development and implementation of advanced manufacturing solutions while ensuring full compliance with quality and safety standards.

You will support a wide range of engineering activities including automation projects, PLC/HMI programming, robotics integration, machine vision systems, process optimisation, SOP development and new product introduction, while ensuring all improvements are effectively implemented and controlled.

The successful candidate will actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, driving operational excellence and supporting the transition from manual and batch-based processes toward smarter automated manufacturing systems aligned with Industry 4.0 principles.

To be considered for this role, you will have 3–5 years’ experience within a manufacturing engineering environment with strong hands-on experience in process automation, continuous improvement and production engineering. You will have working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, robotics, machine vision systems, SCADA and wider electro-mechanical systems, alongside practical experience of Lean manufacturing tools and structured problem-solving methodologies such as FMEA, 8D, 5 Why and SPC.

Applicants should ideally hold a degree in Engineering or equivalent HNC/HND qualification, with Six Sigma Green Belt highly desirable. Experience working within audited ISO manufacturing environments and delivering automation-led improvement projects will be highly advantageous.
