Setting Out Engineer

Location: Grimsby

Rate: £300.00 - £320.00 per shift

Summary:

We are seeking a competent Setting Out Engineer to join a civil engineering project team specialising in groundworks, reinforced concrete (RC) slabs, and substation works. This role is offered on a 6-month contract basis and requires a professional who can accurately set out construction works in line with design drawings and specifications. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing levels, coordinates, and control points to ensure precise execution of groundworks and RC slab installation, as well as supporting substation construction activities. A strong focus on health and safety is essential, with the ability to work effectively on site while maintaining compliance with all relevant standards and procedures.

Skills:

Proven experience in setting out for groundworks and RC slabs
Knowledge of substation construction processes
Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications
Strong understanding of construction methods and surveying techniques
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to resolve technical issues on site
Health and safety awareness and compliance
CSCS card holder (essential)
SMSTS certification (essential)

Software/Tools:

Total Station / Robotic Total Station
GPS Survey Equipment
AutoCAD (desirable)
Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)

Certifications & Standards:

CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) – essential
SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) – essential
Relevant health and safety training and site inductions
