Software Validation Engineer

An established engineering company supplying specialist equipment into the pharmaceutical sector is looking to appoint a Software Validation Engineer to join its growing team.

This is a rare succession opportunity. You will work alongside a highly experienced Validation Engineer approaching retirement, with structured knowledge transfer built into the plan. The intention is for you to take full ownership of the software validation function over time.

The business operates in a regulated environment where software releases must be fully traceable, auditable and documented. While the existing validation process is robust, it remains largely paper-based. There is genuine opportunity to modernise and streamline how validation is executed and managed.

This role would suit someone who enjoys structured engineering environments, understands regulatory discipline, and wants the opportunity to shape how validation is delivered in the future.

Key Responsibilities



Plan, execute and document software testing activities

*

Produce validation documentation including test plans, protocols, reports and traceability matrices

*

Support software releases with structured validation evidence

*

Work closely with software and systems engineers to ensure requirement coverage

*

Shadow the existing Validation Engineer and gradually take ownership

*

Contribute to digitising and improving the validation process

*

Support future introduction of automated testing methods

Background & Experience

*

3–8 years’ experience in software testing, validation or quality engineering

*

Experience working in regulated or quality-driven industries such as pharmaceutical equipment, medical devices, aerospace, automotive or industrial automation

*

Strong experience producing structured technical documentation

*

Understanding of the software development lifecycle and structured testing methodologies

*

Comfortable working with legacy systems while contributing to modern improvements

The Opportunity

This is not simply a documentation role. It is a succession hire with long-term ownership potential.

You will be given the autonomy to influence how validation evolves within the business, including the opportunity to introduce automation into a currently manual testing environment.

Hybrid working is available. However, this role requires onsite presence when system-level testing on physical equipment is required. A practical commute to the Salisbury area is essential.
