Applications Engineer - Software - The Role:

  • The role will involve working with the client through all phases of a project life cycle including requirements capture, specification, design and implementation, documentation, installation, commissioning, handover, training, and support

  • Mostly working on guided assembly, mobile robotics and test systems which would require an understanding of process, IT system interaction and how parts under test are connected and function.

  • Interfacing to 3rd party systems using SQL, OPC-UA, JSON, TCP/IP, and RS232

  • Interfacing to parts being manufactured using analogue and digital I/O, CAN, or LIN

  • As well as communication, documentation and project management skills, the role would benefit from an understanding of mobile robotics, mechanical, electrical and vehicle systems.

  • Occasional customer visits across the UK

    Applications Engineer - Software - The Person:

  • Well-rounded Engineer keen to be involved with a broad range of equipment and happy to be involved with varying disciplines

  • Knowledge of working in a practical process control and automation environment

  • Basic control programming (Python, VBA, IsaGraf, SQL, PLC Logic Control)

  • Requirements capture and the ability to create or update specifications.

  • Embedded electronics or control systems background

  • PC builds, software installations and application configuration

  • Electronic / Software / Control Systems based Degree / HND or Time Served

  • UK valid driving license ESSENTIAL

    We require a highly motivated, practical and proactive Engineer who is able to communicate well at all levels and be customer focused and commercially aware. This is a unique opportunity where you will thrive working in a time restricted and challenging environment alongside a dynamic team of individuals.

    Based in Birmingham this role is easily commutable from within and around the following areas: Dudley, Quinton, South Birmingham, Stourbridge, Coventry and Halesowen.
