My client specializes in delivering turnkey automation solutions, integrating high-performance CNC machine tools and industrial robots to optimize manufacturing processes. Their solutions help customers achieve higher productivity, precision, and efficiency. They’re are looking for an Applications Engineer to join their Automation Team, playing a key role in developing, optimizing, and delivering fully integrated machining and robotic solutions.

Who they’re looking for:

  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC programming, including setting, operating, tooling selection, and troubleshooting. You should be confident in optimizing machining processes and ensuring efficient, high-quality production.

  • Because you'll be working at our Leamington Spa site as well as visiting customer sites around the country, a full UK driving license and a location within commuting distance of Leamington are requirements for the role.

  • Experience in robot programming is desirable but not essential – they’re looking for someone eager to learn and develop automation skills on the job. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with industrial robots, allowing you to integrate CNC machines with robotic automation and progress into a more advanced role in manufacturing automation.

    Key Responsibilities:

  • Set and program advanced CNC machines, ensuring optimal machining performance.

  • Set and program industrial robots for seamless integration with CNC processes.

  • Set up and configure complete automation cells, ensuring all components work together efficiently.

  • Complete customer pass-offs, demonstrating system functionality and meeting customer requirements.

  • Integrate CNC machines and robots with our in-house automation software.

  • Develop innovative solutions to overcome unforeseen challenges in automation projects.

  • Set up automation cells at customer sites, ensuring smooth installation and operation.

  • Deliver training to customers on CNC programming, robotic operation, and automation systems.

  • Prove out machining and automation processes for on-site sign-off and customer acceptance.

  • Provide ongoing support for existing automation systems in the field, troubleshooting and optimizing performance.

    Skills:

  • Fanuc programming experience is essential

  • Siemens or Heidenhain control is an advantage.

  • A time-served engineer with at least 5 years’ experience of CNC turning and milling machine tools applications

  • A qualified engineer with recognised apprenticeship

  • 5-Axis machining centre & multi-tasking turning centre experience an advantage.

  • Knowledge of Fusion 360 an advantage.

  • Living in the Midlands area within commuting distance of Leamington Spa

  • A professional and effective communicator

  • Driving license with no more than 3 points
