Test & Validation Engineer | PLC & Automation Systems | UK & Worldwide Travel | Salary up to £51,000 + Overtime

MERITUS are excited to be partnered with an advanced Engineering and Automation business looking to expand their Controls & Automation team. They are seeking an experienced Test & Validation Engineer to work closely with customers to solve complex engineering challenges through the commissioning of automated control systems.

This is a technically demanding, customer-facing role suited to a controls engineer with strong PLC programming expertise, hands-on commissioning experience, and a passion for delivering robust automation solutions across UK and international projects.

Main Responsibilities:

Develop, write, and commission PLC software using Allen Bradley Rockwell and Siemens S7 / TIA Portal platforms
Design and implement structured control software including ladder logic, function blocks, and statement lists
Configure system communications and hardware including Ethernet, Modbus, Profibus, drives, inverters, and PID control loops
Perform full testing, validation, and on-site commissioning of automated systems in the UK and worldwide
Provide customer training, remote technical support, fault finding, and diagnostics while operating to company and H&S procedures

Required Skills:

Proven experience in PLC programming, with Allen Bradley Rockwell
Strong background in PLC / SCADA system design, development, and commissioning
Experience across systems, software, and hardware development in industrial automation environments
Knowledge of industrial communications networks, drives, and process control (PID) systems
Willingness to travel internationally and represent the business professionally at customer sites
