Senior Site Engineer – Civil Engineering | East Midlands

Location: East Midlands (Residential Housing Sites)

Salary: £75,000 - £ 85,000

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Join one of the East Midlands’ most successful civil engineering contractors, delivering high-quality groundworks and infrastructure solutions to the UK’s leading housebuilders.

With a turnover exceeding £100 million and a strong pipeline of secured work, we are expanding our operational team and seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to take a lead technical role on major residential developments across the region.

The Role

As a Senior Site Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing site engineering activities across multiple projects or large individual schemes. You’ll provide technical leadership, ensure precision in setting out, and support the delivery teams to maintain high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor site engineering teams across groundworks and infrastructure packages

  • Carry out and check complex setting out and surveying tasks using GPS/robotic equipment

  • Liaise with clients, designers, and internal project teams to resolve technical issues

  • Review design drawings and ensure all works comply with specifications

  • Oversee QA processes, as-builts, and technical submissions

  • Support the Project Manager in planning and progress reporting

  • Promote and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards on site

    About You

  • Degree or HND in Civil Engineering (or similar)

  • 5+ years’ experience in civil engineering, preferably residential groundworks

  • Proven ability to manage engineering aspects of large-scale housing projects

  • Excellent setting out and surveying skills using GPS and robotic total stations

  • Strong technical understanding and attention to detail

  • CSCS card (essential), SMSTS or SSSTS (preferred)

  • Full UK driving licence
