Site Engineer – Taunton / M5 Corridor (to Bristol)

Setting Out Engineer/ Civils
Location: Friston, Suffolk
Pay Rate: £300 - £400 per day
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Setting Out Engineer / Civil Engineer to join our site team and support the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing accurate setting out, surveying, and engineering support on site, ensuring works are completed safely, to specification, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities:


  • Carry out accurate setting out for all aspects of construction works.

  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to provide setting out and dimensional control.

  • Ensure quality control requirements are met and recorded in accordance with the project QA plan.

  • Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders to resolve engineering issues.

  • Maintain records of as-built information, surveys, and setting out data.

  • Conduct regular site checks and assist in health and safety compliance.

  • Support the site management team with construction progress and technical queries.

  • Contribute to method statements and risk assessments as required.

Requirements:


  • Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Proven experience in setting out on civil engineering or construction projects.

  • Proficient with Total Station, GPS (Leica/Trimble preferred), AutoCAD, and relevant surveying software.

  • Good understanding of construction methods, health & safety, and temporary works.

  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

  • Valid CSCS card and full UK driving licence (or equivalent).

Desirable:


  • SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.

  • Experience working on [specify project type – e.g., highways, residential, utilities].

  • First aid certification.

  • Experience with robotic instruments and/or machine control
