AutoCAD Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Derbyshire

Salary: £40-45k doe + excellent benefits

This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist automation business that is continuing to grow following recent contract wins and ongoing investment across the business.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and development of electrical drawings and control panel documentation for industrial automation projects across a range of sectors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and modify AutoCAD electrical drawings for PLC, SCADA, MCC, and automation control panels
  • Produce detailed electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, and terminal details
  • Support the design and development of industrial automation and control systems
  • Work closely with automation engineers, electricians, and project teams throughout design and installation phases
  • Ensure all drawings comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications
  • Assist with BOM (Bill of Materials) preparation and component selection
  • Support panel fabrication, FAT testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities where required
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, drawing revisions, and engineering records
  • Interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and control schematics
About You
  • Previous experience in an AutoCAD Electrical Design / Electrical Design Engineer role within industrial automation or control systems
  • Strong proficiency using AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical drafting software
  • Good understanding of PLC systems and SCADA architectures
  • Knowledge of industrial control panels, instrumentation, and electrical circuits
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and automation components
  • Understanding of panel wiring standards and electrical compliance requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
Qualifications
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or similar engineering discipline preferred
  • Relevant industry experience will also be considered
