Key Responsibilities
● Electrical Maintenance: Troubleshoot, repair, and install three-phase power systems, control panels, contactors, relays, switchgear, variable speed drives (VSDs), and instrumentation, levels from sensors to full rewires keeping to BS7671 regulations. You will ideally hold inspection and testing qualification BS2391-52. ATEX awareness would be advantageous.
● Mechanical Maintenance: Diagnose, overhaul, and repair heavy mechanical plant equipment, including hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyor systems, gearboxes, pumps, valves, in a waste process environment.
● SCADA and PLC Diagnostics: Experience with connecting to and fault-finding on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), calibrating and diagnosing input/output (I/O) faults and sensor issues to quickly trace control failures to include, gas detectors, flow meters, radar sensors.
● PPM Schedules: Execute comprehensive, multi-disciplined routine preventative maintenance schedules across all site plant and machinery and site facilities.
● Reactive Breakdown Response: Provide immediate emergency engineering response to complex failures, fluidly switching between electrical and mechanical diagnostic methods.
● Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to LOTO (Lock-Out, Tag-Out) procedures, working safely within all relevant statutory health, safety, and environmental regulations.
● Continuous Improvement: Following our internal processes, be able to redesign and upgrade existing machinery components, implementing both electrical and mechanical modifications to boost operational efficiency.
● Data Documentation: Record all maintenance actions, parts usage, and root-cause analyses within our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

● Technical Literacy: Exceptional ability to read, interpret, and cross-reference both electrical schematics and mechanical assembly drawings simultaneously.
● Problem Solving: Methodical, data-driven approach to root-cause analysis on highly automated, integrated production lines.
● Versatility: Capable of managing an entire machinery breakdown completely from start to finish without needing to hand over to a different trade specialist.

Knowledge required
Knowledge of the waste industry / AD sector/ biogas upgrading is advantageous.
Education: Dual-skilled engineering apprenticeship with a recognized multi-skilled qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, BTEC, City & Guilds, or HNC/HND in Multi-Skilled Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent cross-disciplines) is required.
Electrical Certification: Formal electrical wiring regulations certification (e.g., UK 18th Edition / BS7671 and BS2931-52 is required , Compex 1-4 is highly desirable.
Experience required
Industrial Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of working experience within a high-volume manufacturing, FMCG, automated warehousing, or processing plant environment.
Automation Experience: Proven hands-on experience working with industrial automation, sensors, and modern production line equipment.
