Electrical Engineer - Automation Projects - Days! 52K!

Location: North Manchester, UK

Salary: £52,000 Per Annum (Plus excellent Benefits – see below)

Industry: Global Engineering & Bespoke Machinery Manufacturing

Hours: Mon - Fri on Site. Occasional travel to other sites (Definitely a bonus not a draw back!)

    Build the Future of Automation

    An international engineering firm is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to join its high performance team. This role is a key part of the business’s innovation pipeline, contributing to the design, delivery, and support of advanced automation systems used in industrial machinery worldwide.

    You’ll be based at our Greater Manchester facility, with occasional travel to customer sites across the globe for commissioning, retrofits, and technical support.

    What You’ll Do

  • Design, program, and test automation software using Siemens TIA Portal, WinCC, and Sinamics drive systems

  • Adapt standard machine software from master codebases for customer-specific needs

  • Develop software solutions for unique, one-off machines and R&D prototypes

  • Independently modify PLC, SCADA, and drive control logic

  • Work with cross-functional teams and clients to deliver high-quality solutions

  • Support retrofit projects and provide hands-on troubleshooting when needed

  • Manage automation software projects from concept to deployment

  • Ensure all systems comply with relevant regulations and internal quality standards

    Your Background

  • Strong experience in all things Siemens & Scada - knowledge of other systems (Schneider / Allen Bradley etc a plus)

  • Understanding of industrial automation, machine controls, and electrical systems

  • Experience commissioning complex machinery

  • Ability to travel internationally when required

  • Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities and autonomy

    Desirable Skills

  • Electrical cabinet design experience

  • Familiarity with roll-to-roll winding, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and FieldBus

  • HND, BEng, or MEng in a relevant engineering field
