Control Systems Engineer – Automation

We are looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join a dynamic automation and robotics team. You will play a key role in designing, programming, and commissioning control systems for bespoke machinery, from initial concept through to final build.

This is a hands-on, project-driven role where you will create control solutions for robotic and automated systems, including PLC programming, HMI development, and integration with mechanical and electrical systems. You will work closely with the design and assembly teams to deliver reliable, efficient, and innovative automation solutions.

Typical projects include:

* Fully automated assembly and production machines

* Robotic pick-and-place systems

* Vision inspection and automated quality control systems

* Complex material handling and manufacturing cells across industries such as pharmaceutical, automotive, and general engineering

Key Responsibilities

* Develop PLC programs and configure HMIs for bespoke automation systems

* Design control strategies and sequences for robotic and automated machinery

* Integrate control systems with mechanical and electrical components

* Test, troubleshoot, and commission systems to ensure safe and reliable operation

* Interpret and review customer specifications to deliver cost-effective, innovative solutions

* Collaborate closely with design, build, and assembly teams to meet project timelines

Key Skills & Experience

* Proven experience in control systems engineering for industrial machinery or automation (BEng, HND, HNC, or apprenticeship route)

* Strong PLC programming skills (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar)

* HMI design and configuration experience

* Experience integrating sensors, actuators, and robotic systems into automated processes

* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

* Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills

* Hands-on, practical approach to commissioning and troubleshooting
