🔍 About the Role:

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Structural Engineer to join a well-established engineering consultancy in Edinburgh. You’ll play a key role in leading and delivering structural design and analysis on a variety of commercial, educational, and residential building projects across Scotland and the wider UK.

You’ll collaborate closely with clients, architects, contractors, and colleagues to deliver creative and sustainable engineering solutions, taking responsibility for project delivery, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to the strategic growth of the structural team.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities:

Lead the structural design of new-build and refurbishment projects from concept through to construction

Undertake detailed analysis and design using Eurocodes, British Standards, and relevant software (e.g. Tekla, Tedds, Robot, Revit, etc.)

Coordinate design deliverables with multidisciplinary teams including M&E and civil engineers

Attend design team and client meetings, presenting engineering input with clarity and confidence

Mentor and review work by junior engineers and technicians

Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations and internal QA procedures

Prepare specifications, calculations, reports and oversee drawing production

Support the bid process and business development by preparing fee proposals and building client relationships

🎓 Requirements:

Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Chartered (or near Chartered) with ICE or IStructE

Significant UK experience delivering building structures in commercial, residential, and/or education sectors

Strong knowledge of design in concrete, steel, masonry, and timber

Competent in structural design software and BIM coordination tools

Confident communicator and team player

A proactive, hands-on attitude with a desire to lead and influence projects
